I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Today I wanted to get real with you about my challenge groups. I wanted to share with you what they mean to me and what they are all about. So heres the deal - I started this journey as a challenger myself first. I remember feeling like I "hit rock" bottom when my son had just turned 2. It was the night of his birthday party and it felt like my last straw. I was so sick and tired of being tired, living off white chocolate mocha lattes from Starbucks and NEVER having enough time for myself. I wanted things to change. Even though I was a "busy mom" I wanted to make some time for myself. In that moment I didn't know how I would do it, I just knew I had to make it work. Quickly I began to scour the Internet to learn more about the 21 day fix that was just coming out at the time. I thought there is no way you could seriously drop up to 10 lbs in 21 days or could it really work? That's all I was after just 5 or 10 lbs but more so I wanted to feel better. I was very apprehensive about Shakeology and just the idea of being in a challenge group. I really didn't understand what it all meant, but I saw one of my friends from college being successful not only as a challenger first but also as a coach. After watching her for many months, I decided to pick her because "she wasn't going anywhere." She clearly knew what she was doing when it came to helping people find success.

My group lasted for a month and at the end of the month not only did I hit my goal that I was working towards, but I also was hooked on the whole challenge group environment as well as Shakeology. It made me a new mom and wife for my husband and son. I was refreshed, energized, less crabby, happier and no longer living off of Starbucks because of my small change. Which was funny because I was SO skeptical of all of it at first. From there, I knew I wanted to help others feel as great as I did and quickly became a coach myself.

But here's the thing - I am now 18 months into coaching and helping challengers to get the results they are pushing for and to this day - I am STILL a challenger myself.  The environment that is created in a challenge group is a place that makes you feel like it's okay to fall off the wagon but you don't get to stay off the wagon. We celebrate wins big and small and encourage each other when they need it. We share recipes, health tips and ideas that we are picking up along the way as we adapt to our new lifestyles. The groups are not about being on a diet, they are about changing your lifestyle once and for all for the BETTER. I teach you how to make this a part of your life and how to make yourself proud.

During my time as a coach, I have helped countless individuals lose A LOT of weight. But what I think is more important is that I didn't give up on them when everyone else including themselves had. I kept them accountable and held their hand thru the challenge. It seems to me that regardless of your income, your profession or your weight loss goals we all just need a friend to help support us along the way.

If that's what your in need of, please fill out the application below. Allow me to be your coach, your friend, your hand holder, whatever you need. Just ask - be brave enough to say I need help with this and I can't do it alone. I can quickly place you in a support group and help get you started.

The journey is hard enough, don't face it alone

How Personal Development Can Change Your Game

Can Reading 10 Pages A Day Really Make  A Difference?

When I first became a Beachbody coach one of the things that we were told to do was read at least 10 pages of personal development a day because this business can get you down sometimes with how many people turn you down some months. Also, because devoting time to personal development makes you a more inspired and motived person. Crazy right? Who the heck has time to read personal development... what does that even mean? That was my take at first, but then I decided I wanted to be successful more than anything so I was going to do what they told me to do. Holy game changer is all I can say.

I should probably mention up front for those who don't know me that I am a high school business teacher and almost have my masters in leadership, so being a Beachbody coach is kind of like a dream job for me. I get to lead my team of coaches that work under me, I get to run my own business and I get to teach people how to be healthy and fit. I feel like I was destined for this job right? Anyways what I am getting at is that the books that I have been reading have been so enjoyalbe for me because they tend to be on topics that I already study, teach and love. I read mostly leadership and personal growth books but I also add in health, fitness and well being books as well.

What I can tell you is that I attribute my daily positivity to this. Don't laugh but I tend to read my PD (personal development) while I am drying my hair in the mornings. I have really long thick hair so drying it take a good 15 minutes. At first I kept running out of time to get my reading but then it dawned on my why not get it done while I sat there and dried my hair? Genius I know! I love it because it sets the tone for my day. It makes me focus on the good in my life and inspires me to be a better everything - wife, mom, teacher, friend and leader. It can be hard to stay motivated sometimes but when you take small steps like this it improves your life by leaps and bounds.

I learned from my favorite book the Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen that the difference between the extremely successful people and the average Joe's of the world are the daily habits that they cultivate. He calls it the slight edge - making easy decisions to do more and be better with consistency.  Over time they give you the upper hand on the rest of the world. 90% are okay with just being average. That other 10% are living lives many can only dream of. Guess what that 10% of people do every single day... yep you guessed it - they read... just 10 pages a day. So easy to do and also so easy not to do - so there you have it, this is why I read every day. To motivate and inspire me but also to be part of the 10% of people. I like success and I like to grow. People who lack the growth mindset are really missing out on a lot in life!

I challenge you to try this in your own life and see where it takes you. Thanks to this habit I have a bookcase full of great reads that I can proudly say I have learned a lot from! Here are a few of my favorite ones to get you started!

  • The Slight Edge - Jeff Olsen
  • The Compound Effect - Darren Hardy
  • Push - Chaelene Johnson
  • People Follow You - Jeff Blount
  • You Are A Badass - Jen Sincero
  • EntreLeadership - Dave Ramsey
  • Hands Free Momma - Stafford
  • #GirlBoss - Sophia Amoruso
  • Anything written by John Maxwell
  • Tribes - Seth Godin
  • Lean In - Sheryl Sandberg
  • How To Rock Your Network Marketing Business - Sarah Robbins
* I just ordered The Body Book by Cameron Diaz and also The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster by Darren Hardy. They should be here any day and look like really great reads!

These are just a few I could go on but this should get you started - trust me on this habit. It is a great investment in your well being! When you pick a book, pick one that is about what you need to improve on in your own life. The books above helped me and were right for where I was in my career and in life. They may not be great for you but there are great books out there that will work for you!

Post in the comment area below any great recommendations you have for me. I am always looking for new books to add to my collection!

What I Can't Do For You As A Beachbody Coach...

What I Can't Do For You As A Beachbody Coach...

Today’s message is one for anyone who is feeling discouraged or wishing they were closer to a weight loss goal to listen up. Today I am going to tell you all the things that I CANNOT do for you as a health and fitness coach. What? This lady is going to talk about what she can’t do as a coach? This should be interesting because who would write a post about what they can’t do… RIGHT?

As I get closer and closer to my one year anniversary with Beachbody I am learning that in order for my clients to find true success this journey has to be their own. I get clients at all different levels of their journey. Some are just starting, some want to try something new and some are already in great shape. Everyone seems to need something different and everyone seems to get varied results. The results that they get are simply based on one thing. THEY HAVE TO WANT TO CHANGE MORE THAN THEY WANT TO STAY THE SAME. The ambition and excitement that comes along with getting ready to start a challenge group is something that you simply can’t beat. It’s exciting and motivating and for many it’s hope for something they have been yearning for. But after a little bit of time that excitement can wear off. You want to know why? Because losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle is freaking hard some days. There are days when you just want to eat like crap and skip the workouts. You want to quit because it’s easier than sticking with your program and staying on track. Some days you want to hit the drive thru instead of eating the lunch you made for yourself and somedays it feels overwhelming when your goal seems so far away. But you see, I have two types of challengers those who are in it for the long haul even when it gets hard and I have those who are kinda sorta in. They might do it for a month or so or maybe longer but they are not “all in” and when you are not all in your results will take so much longer to come. Don’t be fooled by my challengers who have lost A LOT of weight. It wasn’t magic, they didn’t just drink Shakeology and wake up with a six pack. They fought for where they are. They struggled but they didn’t give up. They found support in the group and in each other and that's why they lost all of the weight. They leaned on each other so they could rise together. That's why challenge groups rock. It allows you to be surrounded by people who are all fighting the same fight and get how you are feeling. It’s the best way to turn your lifestyle around.

I think it is important that I mention as a coach I cannot want this for you more than you can. I cannot make you press play on your workouts, I cannot come to your house and prep your foods nor can I always do your meal plans for you. YOU have to want this and YOU have to show up every single day even when it’s hard. You have to push even on days when you just don’t feel like it. But what I can do is be your biggest cheerleader, your therapist and your friend. I can be your safe place to vent when things get hard and I can be the one who celebrates major lifestyle change victories with you but YOU have to want it for you even more than I do.

So my message is this, if you have ever bought a challenge pack or fitness program did you go all in until you got where you wanted to be or did you give up? You owe it to yourself not to quit. You know what quitting feels like and you don’t want that for yourself. For once, I want to see you prove yourself wrong and go accomplish what your wishing. I’ll be right by your side for as long as you need me.

Time To Take a New Path

Starting on June 16th I will be hosting two seperate groups this month. I am a school teacher and will have more time to devote to my challengers with summer coming up so I am taking on a few more this month than usual. The first group as I have mentioned a few days ago is for those looking to lose the baby weight. That group is going to be doing the 21-day fix only. It is for 30 days. The second group is for ANYONE who wants to work towards a healthier lifestyle. In the group challengers will be doing different Beachbody programs, whatever fits best for their needs and goals. We will all be practicing clean eating and drinking Shakeology. As we go thru the challenge we will support and encourage one another to get towards their new goals. Daily check ins with me will be required to keep you accountable. If you think your ready for a change please contact me for more information. S.Griffith27@gmail.com The group will be starting up soon so be sure to reserve your spot today.
