Sisterhood - You Won't Find It In Your Challenge Pack Box

My Weekend Recap

*-TEAM FIT & FABULOUS-*
If you follow me on social media, you might have noticed I was pretty busy this past weekend. I spent some time with doctors in Pittsburgh for a few different health reasons on Thursday and Friday but Friday night began my weekend of work. When I say work I really should say my weekend of fun.

Corporate came to Pittsburgh this weekend for Beachbody's Super Saturday event. Typically Super Saturday happens once every quarter. The purpose of it is to get everyone together to share some coach and challenger success stories, get training from the company and do a live workout. It's some of my favorite days of the year. There is nothing better than surrounding yourself with so many other's who "get it." What you will find in Beachbody is more than a way to make an income or to help people with weight loss. It's a way to make friends and create a bond that many will never be lucky enough it experience. I call it the sisterhood. Until you experience it, you won't understand it. One might think we are each others competition. We all promote the same things and essentially do the same thing but you see,  we are actually each others biggest fans. Beachbody is more than a business, it's a community of like-minded people who pick positivity and happiness over anything else.

A year ago, I went to my first Super Saturday event for Beachbody ALL BY MYSELF! I met up with coaches in my network, but I had nobody from my own team. At that point in my business I had a vision, but I was one of the only ones who saw into the vision. I was a leader without a big tribe. As nervous as I was to attend last year, I went anyways because I knew what this company could do for me. I saw the potential. Even if nobody else did at the point.

Fast forward a year - this past weekend I went to my 5th Super Saturday event with enough of my own coaches to fill an entire row. Unreal! So exciting when you can watch your dream of building your very own team right before your very eyes start to happen.

Sometimes being a leader means you have a vision before anyone else can see it, but you keep moving forward anyways. All because I decided to say "I believe in me and this opportunity." It all starts with one.

Friday night I got to head to Mars, PA with a few of my favorite girls who I started with when I first joined the business. Because of our rank in the organization, we were invited to an exclusive training with some of the top coaches as well as Jeff Hill. He is the vice president of Global Sales for Beachbody. He wanted to do an intimate training with us. Lots of learning and lots of fun. While it did mean we all had to sacrifice a Friday night, I can't think of another place I would have rather been.

On our way - Had to take a selfie - of course ;)

FRIDAY NIGHT FUN!!

Saturday's event took place at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA. We could not have all had more fun together. The training was out of this world. The networking was a blast and the workout kicked our butt. One of the newest master trainer's came to the Burgh to give us a live workout. Jericho brought her A game. After lots and lots of laughs and maybe just a few selfies ;) we headed to dinner for a little cheat meal.

Photo opportunity time with the newest celebrity fitness trainer and Jeff Hill from corporate.

A few of my beauties before the fun started.

Crazy. Crazy. FUN ALL TIME TIME!!!

A Difficult Opinion To Change

A Dietician's View On Shakeology

This business has had many perks for me and one of them has been that it has allowed me to reconnect with friends I had lost touch with. 10 years ago when I graduated high school, I lost touch with some pretty amazing people. Sam was one of those people. Just this summer she reached out to me wondering more about the business opportunity. She saw what it was doing for my life and was curious about what it could do for hers. She was a registered dietician in Philly and was getting ready to move to Florida with her soon to be hubby. She was interested in using this opportunity as a job to help her make income while settling into her new home while she looked for a job.

We shared a few conversations about the business opportunity, but I also expressed how important it was going to be for her to truly be a product of our products. She was already eating clean, exercising and focusing on her overall health. She didn't need me like some people do when they start their journey. But she realized she wouldn't be a very good coach if she didn't try the programs and products for herself. She agreed with me but was a bit skeptical about Shakeology. That seemed to be the only thing holding her back. She was not so sure it would be beneficial for her since she was already eating so well. I suggested that she give it a try, if she didn't like it, I let her know that it was guaranteed to the bottom of the bag. Meaning that she could return it if she didn't like it. After a bit more talking and lots of homework on her part. She went ahead and started her journey with the 21 day fix extreme.

I was not surprised when she shared with me a few weeks into the challenge how much she was enjoying it and really did find it beneficial. I asked her to share some of her opinions below.
When I first heard about Shakeology I wasn’t interested. It was more than the fact that I would be drinking a meal instead of eating one; it was the cost and all of the promises that went along with it. I just couldn’t believe that a powdered shake could do all of the things that people were saying it did. Being a dietitian definitely didn’t help my skepticism either. I took a few days to look over the label and read up on every single ingredient in Shakeology. I was determined to find a good reason to say no, but I couldn’t so I finally agreed to give it a try.
So to recap, both the macro and micronutrient ratios of Shakeology are fantastic. My hunger and sweet tooth are way more controlled. And breakfast is quick, easy, and cheaper than ever! What’s not to love about Shakeology?

I’ve been drinking it for a few months now and hate to go a day without it. When I first started drinking Shakeology, I immediately noticed a change in my energy level. I no longer needed that morning cup of coffee and I didn’t have that mid afternoon crash either. I drink my shake every morning for breakfast and it holds me over until lunchtime. This is huge for me because before drinking Shakeology I would have at least one snack in between breakfast and lunch and I would still run to my office for lunch because I was so hungry! On top of my big appetite I have a HUGE sweet tooth, which is way more controlled now. I attribute this to the macronutrient ratio. It is the perfect blend of protein, carbohydrates, and fat plus the chocolate formula provides 6 grams of fiber in each serving. This might not sound like a lot of fiber, but it is nearly 25% of the recommended daily value. Another benefit of Shakeology is the fact that I no longer have to take my daily multivitamin since I get nearly all of the vitamins and minerals that I need from my shakes.

To me this was a big deal, if a registered dietician says it's good, it really is good! (But I already knew that all along ;) )

Overeating On Healthy Foods - Yep It's Possible

21 Day Fix - How Six Tiny Little Containers Helped Me Finally Lose My Baby Weight

Today I want to get real with you about what the 21 day fix did for me aside from just helping me lose weight and learn to love exercise. It helped me to learn what a correct portion of food should look like. Let me start from the beginning. I was not a terrible eater before, but what I was terrible at was portion control. I used to eat healthy but WAY too much of those healthy foods and sometimes way too much of unhealthy foods too. ;) For example in a day I would sometimes have four different servings of fruit. While it was great that I was eating "healthy foods," I was eating too much of it. I couldn't figure out why I was not able to drop my baby weight. Once I started the 21 day fix, I realized my habits were half the problem. I was lacking in veggie and protein servings and overdoing it on carbs, fruits and healthy fats. While my body was getting nutrients it needed it was not going to be enough to help me "strip down" and lose the weight. When you get down to those last 5 or 10 lbs it takes some serious effort and focus and that was what I was needing and missing.

When the challenge pack arrived at my house I remember unboxing everything and thinking "what the hell?" Seriously those containers are so small. I am going to starve for the next 21 days. That was until I learned how much I could stuff into those plastic containers. You see the fix gives you color coded containers and instead of counting calories you count containers. If it fits in it you can have it. There is a formula that you use to determine how many containers you get in a day. It came with a meal plan guide book that told me what I could put in each of the containers. In addition to all of those containers, I also had to drink half of weight in ounces of water a day and commit to doing the 30 minute exercises each day for 21 days.

Here was my breakdown for my body weight:

4 protein servings (red containers) Shakeology counted as one of my reds! Thank goodness because this was my most difficult container to get in each day. I was glad to have one that was easy to make and tasted great!
    3 vegetable servings (green containers)
    2 fruit servings (purple containers)
    2 carb servings (yellow containers)
    1 healthy fat container (blue)
    1 seeds/ nuts (orange)

My favorite way to get in my red containers - usually my go to breakfast but some days my late afternoon snack before dinner.
What I learned during my initial round of the fix was that when I ate according to the allotted containers each day, I really wasn't hungry.  I didn't even want the junk food that I used to crave all the time. The first few days I think it was more of a mind game not cheating and going back to my old ways, but after I got the hang of it, it became really easy. On thing I noticed in a big way was that protein was my friend. The more I ate of it, the more lean and fit I looked. Now to this day, I still actually eat according to that plan. While I don't use the containers anymore for my portions, I do still try to make a conscious effort to eat all of my needed containers each day. It wasn't a diet for me rather a lifestyle change. The best part was it was easy to incorporate this into what my family was already eating for dinners. (I only had to tweak a few things) and this allowed me to have a few cheats. I was allowed to trade out a yellow container three times a week for some tortilla chips, chocolate or wine. There were other options for trades but those were the ones I went with and I didn't do it every week just when I thought I needed it. That was nice because I really didn't feel deprived then. Below is an example of what one of my meal plans looked like. As you can see I ate pretty often.

Meal planning was my saving grace - it took me a little to get the hang of it but it really helped me to stay on track.
It took me two rounds to get the results I was wanting. The first round it got me on track and got rid of the bloat and pounds I wanted to drop. The second round was where I leaned out and toned up and actually started to see muscles pop. I did three rounds before I moved on to a new program but I will say that I used the container system still as I did other programs.

If you think portion control is something you struggle with and think the container system would be helpful for you, I encourage you to consider joining my upcoming challenge group that I have starting on October 19th. You have nothing to lose except the weight you have been carrying around and everything to gain. I promise it was a game changer for me.
